Studio POCA for Ademruimte
In 2020 Studio POCA was Artist in Residence at Ademruimte. Stichting Ademruimte is an innovative art platform and place for contemplation through interactive biofeedback art.
During this period, Studio POCA explored how to translate the analog techniques and POCA aesthetics into generatively produced textile prints. By translating digitally recorded heart rate data. The result of this research has led to a new technique in which various patterns in the heartbeat are translated into generated textile prints. Due to the use of sensor technology it is possible to generate very varied prints by means of a heart rate recording. The results of this new technique have led to the new project ‘Woven Rhythms’. We are very grateful for the financial support we have received from the Prins Bernhard Culture Fund to realise this project. Beer van Geer and Julie de Ruijter (Studio POCA) will start the project in 2021.
The Prins Bernhard Culture Fund is doing incredible work to support the cultural sector during these critical times. If you want to know more about this and or want to donate yourself, check out their campaign: ‘Houd Cultuur Levend’.
Studio poca, in collaboration with Stichting Ademruimte, also developed a POCA world that interacts with the breath. For this interactive ‘Waaierwereld’ (Fan World), innovative biofeedback technology is used, which originates in healthcare.
We are very grateful for Stichting Ademruimte and the Gemeente den Haag for supporting this residency.
