Wild Pigments is a series of textile screen prints made from natural wild flower inks.
This project investigates the deepening of the intimacy between the materials and the artist from the reciprocal relationship with one’s own landscape. Collecting the wild flowers with reverence, making the inks and the screen printing itself formed a meditative ritual, connected to the wild and transient beauty of the harvest season. The screenprints on organic cotton voile capture the ephemeral and delicate sensuality hidden in the wildflowers, reflected in the shadow play during the golden hour.
‘There is an intimacy between the artist and the material. I express myself through the materials and at the same time they express themselves through me.
There is an intimacy between my inner landscape and the outer landscape. We effortlessly mirror one another and if it wasn’t for my skin and the learned frames of separation I would swear we are one.’
