By marking transitions through rites connected to our landscape, place and time, we can better understand our interconnectedness with the world around us — and find a way of belonging.

About
“Bridging the tangible and the intangible — giving form to the unseen.”
Featured in Nieuwe Meesters — AVROTROS

Julie de Ruijter is an interdisciplinary artist creating symbolic works in textile and natural materials that frame contemporary rites of passage. Her work explores how we move through change, and our place within the living world.

From interactive rituals that capture the heart’s rhythm into tactile artworks, to works in textile and plant pigment — each opens a portal back to feeling and imagination, where the body’s intuitive knowing can speak. Her immersive ritualistic work and installations have been exhibited in public spaces, galleries and museums.

New work is unfolding alongside her motherhood — personal symbols and rites, taking shape as seeds of a new body of work.
